Studio Policies

  • An annual registration fee of $25 is required per student to ensure class placement and is due when returning the registration form.   The Dance Company curriculum is an 8-month program. The full year tuition may be paid in August. Monthly installments are an option and are due before the first of each month.
  • The Dance Company does not send out monthly bills. Payment will be taken by Ach withdrawal from your account on the 1st of each month.  If the account is presented with non sufficient funds there will be a 25.00 fee assessed and payment received after the 1st of the month will be charged a $5.00 late fee.  Ten days after due date, statements will be sent out for those students who show a balance due. Notices for late payment will include a $10 late charge, and additional taxes.
  • There is a 25.00 fee on all returned and NSF checks and transfers.
  • All tuition is non-refundable. Exception are made with a doctor’s note stating the medical reason necessary for withdrawal, or if a class is canceled due to low enrollment and a substitution is not available. Please provide one month's notice in writing if a student plans to leave the program.
  • Credit for missed classes may not be applied to future tuition. Absences due to illness, or to a holiday observed by The Dance Company may be made up in another appropriate class if it conflicts with the minimum 3 weeks. See instructor for best make-up choices. Please note - the entire amount of monthly tuition is due, even if your child missed class.  Fees are the same based on a 3 or 5 week month. Make up classes may not be available for advanced students enrolled in unlimited classes.  They are welcome, however, to make up in an intermediate class if they would like.  We do not give refunds for classes missed due to other activities, although we due allow make-up classes.
  • SNOW: The Dance Company will close due to snow in conjunction with the Spearfish School District.
  • The School encourages open communication with the teachers. Please try to contact your students’ instructor outside of class time.  Don't let problems go without resolution!!                                  Contact the School at 605-645-3269 or   E-mail dance-company@rushmore.com

Attendance

If a student misses a class they may make up the class in another class that is close to their skill level.  Ask your child's teacher for suggestions.  If your child is well enough to watch class, she/he may do so.  It is very important to be consistent to class, both for learning and to avoid injury.  If a student is ill or has another obligation, it would be appreciated if the School received a call or e-mail.  We care about your children and like to know why they are not attending class. Although we support participation in other activities refunds are not given if classes are missed due to other obligations.

Please make every effort to be prompt to class.  We realize that sometimes it is difficult with all of schedules to be on time, but it can be harmful to a dancer's body if they are not warmed up properly.  This is especially important with intermediate and advanced classes.  If a student is very late (more then 20 minutes) she/he may be asked to observe class rather then participate. If a child is asked to observe class a makeup class will not be offered.

Faithful attendance is important to obtain the utmost from your child's dance education.  It is only fair to the student, their fellow students, and teacher to attend and arrive on time to each class, unless ill.  If a student has 3 absences in a row, a private lesson may be needed.  If an instructor recommends your child for private instruction to 'catch up' you will be notified and every effort will be made to set a convenient time.  Private lessons are mandatory for any student with excessive absences.  The cost of private instruction is between $20.00 and $40.00 an hour depending on the instructor.  Classes are 'made up' or 'rescheduled' only due to the cancellation of the class, if it conflicts with our 3-week minimum.

Safety

Students are to wait inside the school for their rides. Please tell your children not to wait alone outside for you. This is for their safety! Parents and Students are to wait outside of the classroom for their children and friends. Students should not arrive more than five to ten minutes before the scheduled lesson and are to leave the studio after the class is completed.

Little ones get very upset when their parents are late after class. For their safety, caution them about not leaving the building until you arrive. We cannot assume responsibility for students after class is dismissed, as there is no one to supervise their activities.

Students without proper footwear or attire will be asked to observe class. The dress code will be strictly enforced for the safety of the students. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Students who arrive more then 20 minutes after class has begun will be asked to observe class.  This is for the child’s safety, and imperative for avoiding injury.
